One of my favorite ways to utilize essential oils is in my meditation practice. Connecting with different scents allows us an opportunity to be completely present in that moment. The enticing aromas can help us feel more grounded, uplifted, centered and more. As we delve into our sense of smell, we also naturally deepen our breath which helps to balance the body. Breathing in the oil molecules through the nose directs them into the limbic system in the brain, which is the seat of our emotions. Certain smells will bring us back to different memories from our past, and create an emotional response.
My favorite oils to use for meditation are: Frankincense, Stress Away, Lavender and Peace & Calming. You can use them in a diffuser, or you can place a drop in your hand, rub your hands together & take a few deep breaths at the beginning of practice. If your mind begins to wander, you can use the scent to reconnect. Interested in trying some? Reach out to me, and we can discuss what scents might work best for you.
