What is Y4C?
Y4C stands for Yoga for Cancer, and is a program designed specifically as such. As the y4c website states: “yoga4cancer (y4c) is a specialized yoga methodology that is tailored to address the specific physical and emotional needs left by the cancer & its treatments. This unique approach is not just gentle or restorative yoga but focuses on how to stimulate the immune system through movement, improve flexibility & strength along with reduced anxiety and boost overall well-being. y4c was developed by Tari Prinster – a cancer survivor and master yoga teacher. Tari has been offering teacher training, classes and retreats across the US for the past 14 years.”
Why did I chose to study this?
After years of working with multiple private clients in the midst of dealing with different types of cancer, I decided to further educate myself on this important topic. In January of 2017 I partook in this specialty training program.
How can this benefit a cancer patient or someone in remission?
Through the y4c training program, I learned many techniques that beautifully complimented my own teaching style. The program allowed me a deeper understanding of the immune system, potential side effects from treatment, and how to better support my clients physically and emotionally. I find this work to be incredibly important, and it is an honor to be able to help people find more balance and peace during a challenging time in their lives. This type of yoga supports the entire process and stages from diagnosis, treatment through recovery and eventually remission. Feel free to reach out with any questions about how this can benefit you or a loved one.
